Coast & Country’s HomeCall recognised for ‘Transformation’ of services

Coast & Country Housing’s Independent Living Service, HomeCall has been recognised for the excellence of its services for elderly and vulnerable people in Redcar & Cleveland with a prestigious award.

HomeCall won the ‘Transforming Services for Customers’ award at the Chartered Institute of Housing North East Awards.

The award focuses on how staff and customers have worked together to create efficient, high quality, outstanding services that the organisation and its customers can be proud of. 

The nomination concentrated on the transformation of the support services for vulnerable people in Redcar & Cleveland following removal of funding that left many people in a state of uncertainty.

‘Faced with the removal of the entire service, a vision and service plan required bespoke and innovative thinking. The creation of a H.U.G (HomeCall Users Group) and close working with our tenants’ panel provided ideas, scrutiny, review and delivery approach, creating the platform from which our new service would evolve. Coast & Country’s HomeCall service was transformed into a ‘One Stop Shop’ for independent living services.’ 

HomeCall now provides quality independent living services, support and assistance for more than 5,000 elderly and vulnerable customers. 

Jason Lowe, Head of Independent Living & Supported Living at Coast & Country Housing, said:  “We’re proud to deliver our HomeCall service to support elderly and vulnerable people remain independent. Whilst excellent service delivery and a commitment to improvement and development is our main focus, it is very satisfying to receive external recognition from such a recognised and prestigious industry body as the Chartered Institute of Housing.”
